About Fast Easy Moving

An independent consumer guide to hiring movers in San Diego and Southern California.

We're not a mover or a broker

Fast Easy Moving doesn't move anything and doesn't sell moving leads. We publish guides that explain the rules licensed movers have to follow, so you can compare quotes and spot problems before moving day.

How we write our guides

Our guides are researched and written by the Fast Easy Moving editorial team from primary sources: the California Bureau of Household Goods and Services, the Max 4 tariff, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, and city and utility websites. Each guide lists its sources and the month we last checked them. Third-party data, such as cost averages, is labeled as such.

How we'll rank movers

We're building independent rankings of San Diego movers. No mover can pay to be ranked or to change its position. These are the criteria we'll use:

  • An active California household mover license with the Bureau of Household Goods and Services, and FMCSA registration for interstate work.
  • Public enforcement and complaint history with BHGS and FMCSA.
  • Written estimates based on an in-person or video survey, with a not-to-exceed price on the agreement.
  • Clear valuation options and a documented claims process.
  • Proof of workers' compensation coverage for the crew.
  • Consistency of public customer reviews over time, not just the star average.

Corrections

Rules, fees and program details change. When we find something out of date, we fix it and update the date on the page. Our guides are general information, not legal advice.

Start with the most important step: check a mover's California license.
